Erik Ylipää is an AI researcher at RISE with a focus on deep learning. He is part of the natural language understanding group headed by Magnus Sahlgren, but has worked with a wide area of applications for deep learning. His main research interest is in memory augmented deep neural networks and sparse deep learning. While previously working mostly with sequential data such as language, music, video and time series forecasting he’s now deeply involved in projects using graph neural networks in the chemistry domain, with applications in reaction prediction, pharmacology, and toxicology.

He has organized and led courses and talks about AI, deep learning and deep neural networks both internally within RISE and externally with RISE’s partners.
