[Hackathon] QSIP Hackathon with focus in quantum cryptography and quantum machine learning

Register here

Overview

The QSIP Quantum Hackathon will focus primarily on two exciting areas of quantum computing: Quantum Cryptography and Quantum Machine Learning. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore additional topics such as quantum optimization and quantum chemistry, depending on their interests. The event will bring together researchers and industry experts from organizations including IQM, QuTwo, and QMill. Participants will have the unique opportunity to work on real-world challenges and interact with specialists in quantum cryptography, who will provide access to and demonstrations of real quantum communication devices.

The hackathon is designed to be accessible to newcomers. No prior knowledge of quantum computing is required; participants only need basic Python programming skills and a strong interest in learning about quantum technologies. Rather than competing for prizes, the hackathon aims to encourage collaboration, learning, and innovation. Participants will work in multidisciplinary teams to develop creative solutions to real-world problems using quantum computing. Diverse backgrounds and expertise are highly encouraged, as they contribute to stronger and more innovative teams. Both beginners and experienced participants will find suitable challenges. Those with prior experience in quantum technologies can tackle more advanced problems, while newcomers will be guided through approachable challenges that provide a practical introduction to quantum computing and its applications across a variety of domains.

Prerequisites

In order to follow the lectures the participants are expected to:

  • Have a working knowledge of linear algebra.

  • Familiarity with Python programming.
